Both T:0 and Digits run on their own general ledger rather than sitting on top of QuickBooks. The difference is who each one was designed for, and what happens to your books when your revenue gets complicated.

Both products own their ledger, support cash and accrual, and categorize transactions automatically. Here is where they diverge.

: Where T:0 is different
Digits automates prepaid and fixed asset schedules on Core and above. It does not do revenue recognition. If you bill annual contracts, run usage-based pricing, or recognize revenue across a subscription term, that work stays in a spreadsheet, and the spreadsheet is what breaks during diligence.
T:0 recognizes revenue inside the ledger, against the contract and the invoice, with each entry traceable back to the source object.
Digits gives you a category manager so you can build and bulk-edit categories yourself. That is a better tool than most, and it is still a tool you have to operate.
T:0’s AI reads your business during onboarding and builds the chart of accounts from it, so a payments company gets accounts for interchange and processing costs and a subscription business gets accounts that separate recurring from non-recurring revenue. You review it before anything posts.
Digits points you to the Digits Accountant Directory and tells you plainly that using an accountant is up to you. The services, including tax filing and CFO work, come from partner firms you hire separately.
T:0’s CPAs are in-house. They review the rules the AI is applying to your transactions, they close your books, and you can reach them in Slack.
: Fair play
QuickBooks is the most widely used accounting software in the world for good reasons. It is the better pick in several situations:
Essentials is $65 a month and Core is $100, against $199 for T:0. If your books are simple and price is the deciding factor, that gap is real and we are not going to argue you out of it.
Digits ships native iPhone and iPad apps. We do not yet.
If you already work with a firm you trust, Digits is designed for that arrangement, and their firm tooling is the strongest part of the product.
